Explorers move up from Scouts at 14 where they work progressively on gaining skills. We currently run Explorers alongside Scouts on Tuesdays a 18.30-20.00 at Tanglin Trust School with Explorers helping to mentor Scouts through activities. One week a month we separate to work on Explorers badges specifically, to provide mentorship for the Explorers to meet their set targets.
Explorers have many programme options to support their developing skills; becoming Young Leaders through the Young Leader mentorship programme, as well as working towards their Chief Scout Platinum, Diamond and King Scout Awards. Alongside this, Explorers can choose to enter the International Award Program to run alongside the Explorers program, helping them to gain the top awards in Scouting.
What is the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award?
The Duke of Edinburgh's International award is a non-formal education framework to support young people to pursue their passions, gain new skills and confidence. Our group is setting up to run this program with the Explorers who will have the option to join this as part of their activities.
